Aide-de-Camp of Union Commanding General George B. McClellan
Born in Prussia, he was the son of the Prussian Minister of War. He enlisted on September 30, 1861, and was commissioned lieutenant colonel, U.S. Volunteers Aide-De-Camp. He served on the staff of General George B. McClellan, 1861-62, and with the Army of the Potomac, until his muster out of service, July 12, 1865.
