The Battle of Chippewa was fought on the Niagara front during the War of 1812. The American Army defeated the British in this battle. General Winfield Scott, a hero of the War of 1812, would later go on to earn accolades in the Mexican War, and he was Commander-in-Chief of President Lincoln's armies in 1861.
