1952 Commemorative Autographed Negro League Baseball Rookie Card
(1930-2022) Nicknamed "Cokey," he was born and raised in Sandusky Ohio, and served in the United States Army. A first baseman, and an outfielder by position, he was 22 years old during his rookie season of 1952 when he debuted for the Indianapolis Clowns, of the Negro Professional Baseball League, sporting a .304 batting average. Nimmons stood 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighed 198 pounds, and batted and threw left handed. Nimmons had the honor to be roommates in 1952, on the Indianapolis Clowns with none other than the soon to be legendary Major League Baseball player, Hank Aaron, the "Home Run King," who hit 755 lifetime home runs in MLB. Ernie Nimmons also played with the Kansas City Monarchs, and the Philadelphia Stars in the Negro Professional Baseball League. A long time resident of Lorain, Ohio, he passed away at the Ohio Veterans Home in 2022.
