Relic From Confederate General Stonewall Jackson's House

This piece of coverlet was owned by Colonel Elijah W. Penny who had service in three Indiana Union regiments and was wounded six times. The period note that came with this relic identifies the coverlet as being taken out of Stonewall Jackson's house after the "U.S. Civil War in 1865." A Xerox copy of the original note is included with the COA. Colonel Perry was discharged in Charlotte, N.C. in late 1865 and obviously obtained this souvenir during his return home west either personally or from an officer friend. The Battle of Shiloh, also known as the Battle of Pittsburg Landing, was fought April 6-7, 1862, in southwestern Tennessee. A Union army under Major General Ulysses S. Grant had moved via the Tennessee River deep into Tennessee and was encamped principally at Pittsburg Landing on the west bank of the river. Includes a 3 3/4 x 3 inch piece of tide water cypress which originated from a beam from Libby Prison. Handsomely displayed within double mat boards of cream and red, and highlighted with two modern copy photographs, and descriptive text. The photo at the top of the display is a Civil War period view showing Libby as a Confederate prison. Captain Turner, the commandant of Libby Prison, is one of the men standing in front of the tents in the foreground. The bottom photograph is a view of the reconstructed interior of Libby Prison as it appeared on display...

Civil War Era Brass Medical Bleeder

Antique 19th century fleam which was a bloodletting medical device. The brass case contains three foldable hinged steel blades. When closed the brass case or handle measures 3 1/2 inches in length. When the blades are fully opened the device measures about 6 1/2 inches in length. All three blades are stamped with the makers name which I can't make out. Very fine.
