Twelve months after date, I Elizabeth Purdom, Administrator of the estate of Thomas Purdom , Dec'd. principal and Ben Purdom securely bind ourselves and heirs pay Alfred Hocker, Deputy Sheriff, for John C. Thurman, Sheriff of Lincoln County, Thirty three dollars- it being the purchase money for all the rights title claim and interest which Edwin Welsh, Dec'd. has in and to the SLAVE LOGAN, at the price of Thirty three dollars which was this day sold by Alfred Hocker, Deputy Sheriff, for John C. Thurman, Sheriff of Lincoln Country, and Thomas Purdom being the highest bidder, became the purchaser at the aforesaid price. Witness our hands and seal this 11th January 1834. Elizabeth Purdom, Ben Purdom, with hand drawn seals below their signatures. and G.D. King.
Written on the reverse of the document is the following: Recd. from Mrs. Elizabeth Purdom, Administrator, of the estate of Thos. Purdom, Dec'd., Thirty three dollars for the within mentioned purchase. The said Thos. Purdom, having made the purchase within his life time, but no bond having been executed previous to his death- his Administrators was required and did execute the within bond- which amount is paid by her as aforesaid above. 15th Jany. 1835.
