Excavated, State Seal of Virginia, Civil War, coat size uniform button with Virtus' spear resting on Tyranny. Missing shank. Back mark: Canfield Bro. & Co., Baltimore. Dug in the battlefield areas just outside of Richmond, Virginia. These buttons were worn on the coats of Virginia Confederate soldiers during the War Between the States.
